Oak (Quercus spp.)

Oak trees live for hundreds of years and preliminary identified by the fruit they produce: the acorn. More than 600 species of oak trees grow worldwide, many of which are used in the lumber industry, furniture making and in landscaping. In Lebanon oak trees constitute more than half of the country’s forests and woodlands. The most frequently encountered is the Kermes Oak, other species include the Turkey oak, the Aleppo oak, the tabor oak and Brant’s oak.

Uses: lumber industry, furniture making, landscaping, charcoal industry, fuel wood.

تعيش اشجار السنديان مئات السنين و تتميز بثمارها المعروفة بإسم البلوط. يوجد اكثر من 600 نوع من السنديان في العالم، عدد كبير منها يستخدم في صناعة الخشب و المفروشات و في تجميل الماكن الطبيعية. في لبنان تشكل غابات السنديان اكثر من نصف غاباته و احراجه، و النوع الاكثر شيوعا هو السنديان القرمزي. اما الانواع الاخرى فتضم العزر و الملول و بلوط طابور و سنديان برانتي
